What does the future hold for Quebec's agroforestry extractibles industry?

From 27th March to 28th March, 2018
Espace 4 saisons, Orford

The biodiversity of Quebec's boreal forest and agricultural crops is a major reservoir of chemical products with great economic potential. Extracting agroforestry biomass is an additional added value that can be used to diversify Quebec's bioproducts basket. In fact, extraction can be carried out as the first stage in biomass valorization without interfering with its energy vocation, which could take place at a later stage, after extraction. The main challenges that need to be overcome in order to develop a sustainable and viable industry in Quebec lie in the areas of supply, biomass pre-treatment operations, lack of training and process scale-up.

To mark the occasion of this event, entitled: "What does the future hold for Quebec's agroforestry extractibles industry?", the CRIBIQ has decided to bring together all the key players to take stock of and update infrastructures, expertise, technologies and progress in research, while putting forward the needs of the various end users in the cosmetic, nutraceuticals and commodities industries. A diagnosis of the value chain will help identify the challenges to be overcome if Quebec is to become a true technological showcase for the production of high value-added extractibles, and a magnet capable of attracting large-scale projects from Quebec, Canada and abroad.

This conference is aimed at the various players in the agroforestry extractibles value chain in Quebec: biomass suppliers and processors, industrials, researchers, engineers, students, managers, equipment manufacturers and end users.
