Three FIBEQs and a Trois-Rivières office for CRIBIQ 26th January 2022

Three FIBEQs and a Trois-Rivières office for CRIBIQ

Founded in Quebec in 2008, the Consortium de recherche et innovations en bioprocédés industriels au Québec (CRIBIQ) is proud to announce its establishment in Trois-Rivières, more precisely at Novocis, in the Parc Micro Sciences. The organization is also pleased to confirm that the next three Forum Innovation on the Bioeconomy in Quebec (FIBEQ) will be held in Trois-Rivières.

In 2019, the 1st edition of FIBEQ, which was also held in Trois-Rivières, was a great success. 350+ experts met for the occasion to discuss issues related to the biobased economy in Quebec and around the world.

"For Quebec alone, the biobased economy represents a GDP of $20 billion, 79,811 jobs, 48,978 businesses and a cumulative turnover of $58 billion. Holding FIBEQ in 2022, 2024 and 2026 is an excellent way to bring together regional and international players (companies, principals, public research institutes, economic development agents) who are working to achieve innovation objectives in Quebec.", said the CRIBIQ's president and CEO, Mohammed Benyagoub.

Strongly involved in the development of the environmental technologies niche, Innovation et Développement économique Trois-Rivières (IDE Trois-Rivières) collaborates with great enthusiasm in the organization of this scientific "happening". "The economic development of tomorrow will be that which meets the challenges of sustainable development. One cannot be done without the other. We are therefore excited to welcome Quebec experts in the green economy to our hometown and to discuss with them the possible solutions to achieve our ultimate goal: to make Trois-Rivières a carbon-free city.", said the CEO of IDE Trois-Rivières, Mario De Tilly.

The city of Trois-Rivières is recognized in Quebec as a leader in the development of biosourced products thanks to its ecosystem that meets the needs of the industry. The importance of research through its teaching establishments and the collegial centre for technology transfer Innofibre offering access to state-of-the-art equipment as well as the proximity of forest resources position the Trois-Rivières territory as a place of excellence for the biobased industry.

The second edition of FIBEQ, for which teams from Innofibre and the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) are also collaborating, will take place from June 20 to 22, 2022, in Trois-Rivières. It will highlight several current issues aimed at supporting the deployment of a national innovation Strategy in the biobased economy.
